No, in designer.
Literally just opening a form in designer mode, changing the size in the properties window.
Saving and closing.
When I reopen it, the size has reverted back.

If i have a label on a form, how can i code it so the background colour is transparrant @ runtime ?
I really do need help..... all this computer stuff is way over my head !!
|
|
|
|
|
Me.Label1.BackColor = System.Drawing.Color.Transparent
Tip:
whenever you change a controls properties from their default in the design mode, the change is added to the form's designer for that control. so you if you put a label on your form and change it's background color, go look at the form designer and see how the ide did that. then use the same command at runtime.

Greetings All:
The issue is that when I execute the Fill method during a button's onClick event, it works fine. But when the Fill method is executed when a boolean propery is updated, the code executes but never populates the binding navigator.
Here's the code snippets in question:
Here's what works:
Private Sub FillToolStripButton_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles FillToolStripButton.Click <br />
Try <br />
Me.SpEDMS_EnumNIOSHByStudyTableAdapter.Fill(Me.Dataset_frmPerson_NIOSH.spEDMS_EnumNIOSHByStudy, New System.Nullable(Of Integer)(CType(glStudyId, Integer))) <br />
Catch ex As System.Exception <br />
System.Windows.Forms.MessageBox.Show(ex.Message) <br />
End Try <br />
End Sub
Here's the same code in the 'propery set' that executes but the navigator never shows any data
Private _QueryNIOSH As Boolean <br />
Public Property QueryNIOSH() As Boolean <br />
Get <br />
Return _QueryNIOSH <br />
End Get <br />
Set(ByVal value As Boolean) <br />
_QueryNIOSH = value <br />
If value Then <br />
Try <br />
Me.SpEDMS_EnumNIOSHByStudyTableAdapter.Fill(Me.Dataset_frmPerson_NIOSH.spEDMS_EnumNIOSHByStudy, New System.Nullable(Of Integer)(CType(glStudyId, Integer))) <br />
Catch ex As System.Exception <br />
System.Windows.Forms.MessageBox.Show(ex.Message) <br />
End Try <br />
End If <br />
End Set <br />
End Property
Why does it work in one part of the form but not another? Any ideas?

I guess the question is "is it ok with who". if go through the conversion wizard vb.net will tell you what's not compatible and force you to find the equivalent code.
|
|
|
|
|
I've been on the MSDN and it has example code on how to save an image to jpg format, they say its compatible in the Compact Framework 2 but it doesn't seem to work. Here is my Code:
Dim img As Bitmap
img = New Bitmap(PictureBox1.Image)
img.Save("Bob.jpg", ImageFormat.Jpeg)
The PictureBox1 contral has a picture already. if I try save it as a BMP there is no problem. but to any other format it system returns a nonreferenced Exception.
Any Help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Hi,
I've been trying to set security password on a existing excel, and been trying these codes:
Im Using COM for Excel 5.0
Public myExcel As Excel.Application
Public myBook As Excel.Workbook
Public mySheet As Excel.Worksheet
myExcel = CreateObject("Excel.Application")
xlsFilename = "C:\samp.xls"
myBook = myExcel.Workbooks.open(xlsFilename)
myBook.SaveAs(xlsFilename, password:=txt_password.Text)
error that i'm getting is "Member not found" and points
to
myBook = myExcel.Workbooks.open(xlsFilename)
when i try to look at the intellisense after workbooks. the only thing that appears
is Gettype.
Any other approach? or recommendation for this would be appreciated.
Thanks.

In office XP I do it like so:
xlSheet.Protect(Password:="SomePassWord", _
DrawingObjects:=True, _
Contents:=True, _
Scenarios:=True, _
UserInterfaceOnly:=True, _
AllowFormattingCells:=True, _
AllowFormattingColumns:=False, _
AllowFormattingRows:=False, _
AllowInsertingColumns:=False, _
AllowInsertingRows:=True, _
AllowInsertingHyperlinks:=False, _
AllowDeletingColumns:=False, _
AllowDeletingRows:=True, _
AllowSorting:=True, _
AllowFiltering:=True, _
AllowUsingPivotTables:=False)
Its not necessary to have all the following settings, but I like to leave them there

Office XP has Interop, but im running this application in NT...
if I can have it work without installing DLLs would be much better.

Hi
I'm trying to just display a simple form to inform the user to please wait while some things are happening in the background. Here are some snippets of my code:
------------------------------------
Dim WaitMessage As New Form2
WaitMessage.Label1.Text = "Please wait while the data is being gathered..."
WaitMessage.Show()
'....some database access going on....
WaitMessage.Close()
------------------------------------
What pops up though is the window, but the label is white and doesn't display the text. If I test this with WaitMessage.ShowDialong() instead of Show(), the form and the label displays perfectly, but off course the background database stuff cannot happen while the form then has the focus.
Any ideas??

Hi
Thanks, that did the trick. The second "application.doevents" wasn't necessary before closing the form though.
Thanks again!
